Questions
Is this an official service?
No. SchoolCompass is built by a parent, for parents. It is not run by the Department of Education, the NCSE or any school. Always confirm dates and places with the school, or with your local SENO (Special Educational Needs Organiser) through ncse.ie.
Where do the dates and places come from?
From each school's own annual admission notice, which schools publish on their websites. We find the notices, read the dates and places, and check each one against the notice before it shows here. The list of special classes comes from the NCSE, and school details from the Department of Education.
How up to date is it?
We look for new notices every evening. Each school page shows the link to its notice and the date it was checked. The NCSE list of special classes is updated once a year, so a class opened recently may not be listed yet.
A date or number is wrong. What do I do?
Open the school and choose "Report a problem with these details". We check every report against the school's notice. Please also confirm with the school directly.
My school isn't listed, or its special class is missing
Use "Has a special class we don't list?" under the search results, or tell us about a missing class. We check every suggestion before adding it. If the school itself is missing, email hello@schoolcompass.ie.
Do I need an account? What do you keep about me?
No account is needed: schools you save stay on your device. Signing in with Google keeps your list in your own account and lets you get reminder emails. Nothing asks about your child. How we handle data
Is it free?
Yes, for every parent. If it helped you, you can support it on Ko-fi.
